Discover San Gold
San Gold Corporation is one of Canada’s most exciting new gold exploration and mining companies.
Production continues to increase rapidly at San Gold as new discoveries are brought online at the Hinge and along the new and parallel mining trend known as the Shoreline Basalt.
The Rice Lake Mine was originally built in 1931 and remains a core part of operations. It reaches 5,600 feet below the surface along two shafts. The 4,050 foot A-shaft connects to a 5,000 foot railway crosscut which in turn connects to the 900 foot D-shaft and spiral ramp that descends another 700 feet. Operations are currently focussed about 4,100 feet below surface.
San Gold has established measured and indicated (geological) resources of 2,432,610 tons at a grade of 0.33 ounces per ton and inferred resources of 6,211,660 tons at a grade of 0.29 ounces per ton.
The Rice Lake Mine uses various methods of mining including panel, cut and fill, and shrinkage that use stopers and jack-legs. Some long-hole mechanized mining methods are also employed. The Hinge uses mainly cut and fill, using mechanized method where veins are wide enough.
At the Rice Lake Mine, ore is transported from the D-shaft hoisting skip along haulage drift to the A-shaft hoisting skip. At The Hinge, the ramp allows ore to be driven to surface by truck.
