Kinross
Kinross Gold Corporation was established in 1993 and has since grown to become the third largest primary gold producer in North America by reserves. Based in Canada, with nine mines in stable countries including the United States, Brazil, Chile and Russia, Kinross employs more than 5,000 people worldwide.
Kinross’ core purpose is to lead the world in generating value through mining. With a growing reserve base, production that is expected to increase 60% over 2007 levels by 2009 and cash costs that are expected to improve as our new growth projects come into production, Kinross is uniquely positioned among major gold producers to continue generating superior value for shareholders.

Kinross sets a foundation for attracting, retaining and motivating employees with a generous benefit program and competitive compensation programs including performance based incentives to encourage employees to perform at the highest level possible through collaborative team efforts.
Kinross’ comprehensive benefit program includes:
- Health Insurance
- Life Insurance
- Disability Insurance
- Profit Sharing and Retirement Plans
- Employee Share Purchase Plan
- Paid Vacations
Kinross provides Equal Employment Opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or veteran's status, as required by law. It is the policy of the company to employ applicants on the basis of qualifications and in conformance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Generation Gold focuses on the recruiting and retention of recent engineering, geology and business graduates.
The duration of the program is four years, divided into four rotations across our global operations.
Following two rotations, each participant is offered a full-time position within the Kinross global organization for two years, with the opportunity for placements in both corporate and mine site locations.
Generation Gold provides participants with a wide variety of enriching work opportunities, during which time graduates experience the “full picture” of gold mining in a global environment. A senior Kinross employee mentors the participant at each location, providing ongoing direction, expertise and accelerated development.
Generation Gold offers new graduates with a highly competitive total rewards package and the most relevant work experience for developing career opportunities, including assignments that are diverse, international, and cross-functional. It also helps graduates secure credits towards various professional designations, such as P.Eng.

The international experience, intensive technical training, career development opportunities, and exposure to a variety of projects and mine operations, make the Generation Gold program an ideal opportunity for recent graduates; it is the springboard that can set careers in motion, and accelerate them.

Ten Guiding Principles for Corporate Responsibility
At Kinross, we believe we have both a moral and a business imperative to be a good neighbour wherever we operate, and regard social responsibility as a core Kinross value.
We understand that maintaining our social license to operate means maintaining strong and mutually beneficial relationships with communities and stakeholders wherever we live and work.

In order to provide a clearly understood and consistent standard for defining our working relationships with our employees, partners, governments, civil society, and communities where we live and operate, we have articulated ten guiding principles for corporate social responsibility.
These principles define what “doing the right thing” means to Kinross and are central to how we conduct our business. While the principles are grounded in practical experience they are also aspirational, recognizing that social responsibility is more a journey than a destination.
At the same time, they are intended as firm, non-negotiable guidelines that apply to every Kinross employee across our global operations, from senior management to front-line operators. They provide a foundation for detailed policies in specific areas such as corporate ethics, environmental stewardship, and health and safety, while also serving as guidelines in the ongoing development of strategies, business plans, and processes at both a corporate and regional level.
These CSR principles operate within the context of our fundamental business objective, which is to create value for our stakeholders. We believe strongly that profitability and social responsibility are not mutually exclusive, but rather are mutually reinforcing. Only by thriving as a profitable and successful business can we generate the wealth that brings sustainable benefits to our employees, suppliers, and communities, as well as to our shareholders.
We are committed to ensuring that our people and our partners live by these principles and that our actions on the ground across our global operations consistently reflect their spirit.
- We put people first and our number one priority is the safety of every employee.
- We maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, ethics and honesty in all of our dealings, and operate in compliance with the law wherever we work.
- We promote an ongoing dialogue and engagement with stakeholders in the communities where we operate, maintained in a spirit of transparency and good faith.

- We exercise utmost vigilance in protecting the environment and seek ways to minimize our environmental footprint wherever we operate. We will always meet, and where possible exceed, regulatory requirements in our environmental performance.
- We consider all aspects of an operation or new project – including social, environmental, and post-closure issues – in making our investment decisions.
- We conduct all of our activities in accordance with accepted standards in the protection and promotion of human rights. We respect the cultural and historical perspectives and rights of those affected by our operations, in particular indigenous peoples.
- We provide a rewarding and meaningful livelihood to our employees and strive to be an employer of choice.
- We seek to maximize employment, business and economic opportunities for local communities from our existing operations and new projects.
- We provide lasting benefits to the communities where we work by supporting sustainable initiatives to develop their social, economic, and institutional fabric. We recognize that every community is unique and we work with our community partners to ensure that our support matches their priorities.
- We maintain an active engagement and dialogue with our global industry peers, associations, governments, and civil society on CSR best practices and evolving global standards.
