The 55 million tonnes per annum [Company] Project represents the next generation of integrated iron ore mine, rail and port projects to be developed in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Situated 115 kilometres north of Newman, in one of the world’s premier iron ore provinces, the world class [Company] Project is the only independent iron ore project with West Australian majority ownership. With a defined mineralisation of more than 2.4 billion tonnes of high grade iron ore, enough to sustain a mine of life of more than 20 years, the [Company] Project is introducing a new wave of innovation, technology and knowledge to Australia’s iron ore industry.

We are currently looking to appoint a Business Systems Analyst to join our Finance Team. This position will be based at the Remote Operations Centre located near the Perth International Airport.

Reporting to the Superintendent Systems and Processes, you will provide support to the Finance team as the key point of contact for SAP and Business Objects related matters and to be the key interface with IT to resolve issues relating to SAP and other integrated systems. This position is also responsible for mapping and documenting business processes and participating in systems design and implementation.

Selected responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Systems & Controls:
  • Support the Finance team to ensure that SAP, Business Objects and other system interfaces (e.g. fuel, fleet and travel management systems) are running smoothly and efficiently, including:
  • daily Finance functions such as account payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, management accounting and financial accounting
  • month-end accounting and reporting activities
  • Represent the Finance team during the planning, development, testing and implementation phases of break fixes, enhancements, upgrades and new IT applications
  • Resolve SAP FICO, Payroll, SD and MM module transaction and reporting errors and issues identified by users
  • Maintain security profile for the Finance team and support the management of systems security across all SAP modules to ensure that SAP security design comply with Roy Hill’s security strategy and framework
  • Monitor compliance with system controls across all SAP modules, including:
  • reporting instances of fraud or illegal activity to the line manager, GM Finance and CFO
  • recommending remedies to weaknesses in system controls and follow through with implementation
  • Recommend improvement to systems, processes and reporting tools and related business processes


Financial and Management Reporting:

  • Assist the Finance team with:
  • developing financial and management reports to improve decision making capabilities
  • translating business reporting requirements into enhancements or upgrades to SAP, reporting tools or other IT applications
  • Provide support for period-end activities, including: assessments, settlements, cost centres and cost element creation and hierarchies, work breakdown structures, GL account set-up and chart of account maintenance, fixed asset capitalisation and depreciation runs, GL journal postings, month-end foreign exchange revaluation, month-end and year-end rollovers


To be considered for this opportunity you will offer:

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years SAP business analyst experience supporting SAP FICO or other modules
  • Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience
  • Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience managing cross functional processes within an integrated system
  • Experience with other modules in SAP including Payroll, Plant Maintenance (PM), Inventory and Warehousing (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Procure-to-Pay, Fuel Management System, Treasury, Workforce Travel Management and Fleet Management System
  • 3 years Business Objects report writing experience
  • Exposure to mining industry
