The Role

  • The purpose of this position is to lead a blasting crew at various shot service accounts, assist the site by delivering product, maintaining distribution equipment, and promoting the organization through contact with the customer in a safe and efficient manner.

Experience and Qualifications

  • MSHA certified
  • Computer skills – complete all electronic Blast Reports
  • Magazine keeping – inventory management
  • Blast design and control
  • Safe and Efficient
  • Practical blasting experience
  • Customer relationship (scheduling, documentation, performance)
  • Communication (internal and external)
  • Licensed blast certification in states where applicable
  • Complete Orica Basic Explosives / Tech 1 training course
  • Competent knowledge of Bulk Truck operation / troubleshooting is a general prerequisite
  • Maintenance of Orica training records in training database
  • Knowledge and adherence to all local blast regulations
  • Ability to manage fragmentation, dig-ability, vibration and air-blast issues
  • Thorough knowledge of customer issues (production costs, complaints, opportunities for improvement)
  • Be able to use Laser
  • Profiler and accessories
  • Use Digital camcorder and be able to burn recording to CD
  • Use Shot plus-I program
  • Train in the use of I-kons
  • Be knowledgeable in the use of seismographs and downloading to computer
