The person in this position will work as part of a team on projects involving civil engineering and related technical assignments. Work may include performing design and analysis, completing designs with CADD modeling software, preparing construction plans and specifications, completing construction cost estimating, and performing construction observation. Areas of practice will include general civil design, utility design, rail-site grading design, and earthwork. The person in this role may also gather field samples, perform surveying, complete data reduction, and conduct instrumentation monitoring. The work may occasionally involve short-term out-of-town assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with academic coursework directly related to the areas described above
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, as well as intermediate to advanced abilities in Excel
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other CAD-based civil design software
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to conduct field work independently or with other team members, either locally or out of town, when needed
  • A flexible working style, self-motivation, initiative, and a willingness to modify personal schedules as required to meet client needs and project schedules
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certified, or ability to obtain certification within one year
  • 2+ years of related work experience


NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and enter and work within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided to prepare for these situations. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
