A Civil/Mechanical Design Manager is required for high profile projects by industry and public standards within the province of Nova Scotia, Canada, reporting to the Sydney office. The role will be challenging, demanding, highly varied and offers fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development.


  • Work autonomously and as a team leader;
  • Coordinate project deliverables and submittals;
  • Lead civil/mechanical drafting staff in the preparation of high quality drawings;
  • Ensure project and client standards are being met continually;
  • Communicate and coordinate with a multi-disciplinary, multi-office, and multi-national team to ensure CAD standards are met and deliverables are achieved;
  • Provide technical CAD guidance and recommendations to the civil/mechanical design team.


We are looking for an experienced Civil/Mechanical Design Manager to lead the civil/mechanical design team for various projects. The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Have between seven (7) and ten (10) years of experience with involvement in the CAD component of large scale projects;
  • Proven experience leading, directing and coordinating a design team and successfully delivering projects in a timely manner;
  • Experience in preparing detailed construction drawings/sketches including reinforcement detailing in a variety of materials;
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD design software;
  • Knowledge of and experience working with ProjectWise V8i integrated with CAD software for drafting as well as for document control and drawing storage, an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy with particular experience in closely working with contractors for design-build projects;
  • Capable to carry out CAD quality and standards checks independently and at various times;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as time management skills.
