The person selected for this position will work on projects with a diverse team of engineers and scientists and will assist with—and in some cases, lead— water resources/civil engineering technical projects. Project work may include stormwater management and planning; hydrologic and hydraulic modeling;; floodplain delineation and analysis; flood-impact reduction studies; levee services; flood insurance mapping; MS4 permitting; completion of plans and specifications for construction; working with permitting agencies and public officials; and water resources-related design (hydraulic structures, open channels, swales, pipes, water control structures, ponds, etc.). Assignments may also include involvement with or supervision of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, GIS and CADD work, and report writing. The work may at times involve short-term, out-of-town assignments either in the field or in another office.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering or related engineering degree, with emphasis on civil/water resources design
  • 3 years of civil engineering experience
  • Project or task management experience
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and hydrologic analysis; site development design, plans and specifications; open channel and pipe flow analysis
  • Broad familiarity with stormwater quality best management practices
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements surrounding water resources management
  • Strong computer skills involving the use of word processing and spreadsheet software, and a working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling, GIS, and CADD software
  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • 4 to 10 years of civil/water resources engineering experience
  • Significant project management experience
  • P.E. certification
  • Strong technical skills in a wide range of civil engineering topics
  • Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain regulations, dam break and dam risk analysis, sediment transport issues, watershed management, hydraulic structures, bank stabilization, floodplain analysis and mapping, and dam and levee analysis and design
  • Civil design experience, including development of plans and specifications, construction observation, and construction management
  • Experience in business development and client management, including proposal management and development
