The company

Our client is a leading Australian based exploration and development mining company with operations in Francophone Africa.
A fantastic opportunity has recently come up for an experienced Commercial and Finance Manager.

The role

Reporting to the Group CFO, the successful candidate will provide in-country leadership of the financial and administrative direction of the company operations
Working with a team of senior professionals, you will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and senior leadership team of the business in leading the in-country finance and corporate aspects of operations as the company continues to grow

Duties will include the following:

• Lead the in-country finance team and ensure that the services provided by the SEK finance department are in line with the needs of the stakeholders
• Provide the COO, Group CFO and other members of the senior leadership team with the necessary financial information to assist in successful operations of the business
• Assist leadership, together with the COO and General Manager Operations of the company’s in-country commercial dealings and arrangements
• Lead the company’s in-country cashflow forecasting and reporting function, ensuring that reliable, detailed, accurate and timely cashflow models and reporting operate within the company
• Monitor and report financial performance, providing clear and timely insights, supporting the group’s ASX reporting and shareholder commitments
• Provide advice and financial analysis enabling decision makers to take timely and informed business decisions


You will demonstrate:
• Big 4 international accounting firm employment for at least 5 years (Manager level);
• 5 years or more years of experience in senior level finance or accounting positions, preferably within the mining industry, post Big 4
• Professional accounting designation (such as Chartered Accountant or CPA), preferred supported by a university degree (B.Comm, B.Admin, MBA)
• Ability to communicate in French & English mandatory
• Experience in Francophone Africa
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local and government officials, company internal management and regulatory officials
• Experience in strategic planning and execution
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Ability to analyze financial data and models, and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
• Experience in public company reporting with an in-depth understanding of statutory reporting requirements
