Description:

  • Department cost reduction objectives are in excess of $1,000,000 per year. Specific projects vary in value - small to in excess of $50,000 per year per project.
  • Develop economic justification for the localization of components as well as products.
  • Analyzes purchasing and manufacturing cost data to identify potential cost reduction opportunities.
  • For those components that are localized (from Japan), arranges the scheduled implementation through Production and inventory Control to assure the full utilization of existing and committed inventories.
  • Conducts Value Engineering meetings with [Company] buyers and vendors to identify potential cost reduction design revisions opportunities. Meets with engineers and secures commitment to a plan to achieve the design revision and the cost reduction. Conducts progress meetings to assure compliance to the plan.
  • Conducts Value Engineering meetings with the manufacturing organization to identify process revisions which have the potential to reduce manufactured costs. Secures commitment to a plan to achieve the process revisions and the cost reduction. Conducts progress meetings to assure compliance with the plan.
  • Enhances systems and data bases to accurately monitor the cost changes by model on a monthly basis through the Flag Graph System.
  • Analyzes the monthly cost reports and assure compliance with cost reduction plans in manufacturing, engineering and purchasing organizations.
  • Presents data to Division Sr. Management to demonstrate progress and effectiveness of cost management program.
  • Confirms CVC data before conversion to next year's SVC.
  • Special projects as required by Sr. Management.
  • Supports the Company's EEO efforts and takes appropriate action to prevent harassment of employees.

Qualifications:

  • BS Technical degree or equivalent experience plus at least five years of diverse experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Documented experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes (both [Company] and Vendors).
  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of general cost accounting methods and practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the application and use of spreadsheet and data base software.
  • Demonstrated success in motivating others to complete assignments as scheduled and on time.
