Job Description Summary

Direct, coordinate and exercise functional authority for planning, organizing, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of responsibility. Analyze, develop, design and improve existing and new plant electrical distribution and control systems. Manage electrical projects to ensure that they are completed safely, on time and within budget. Apply project management techniques to produce applicable scope of work, accurate cost estimates, achievable schedules and successful project completion.
Responsibilities, Skills & Experience RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Electrical Projects
  • Provide engineering services and technical know-how to capital investment projects from the conceptual and feasibility study phase, project design and implementation of capital investments.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of equipment and contract general and technical specifications, prepare project cost estimates, and in the preparation of project schedules.
  • Provide technical know-how and detailed equipment-selection experience as required for the advancement of the project schedule.
  • Ability to develop and prepare drawings to illustrate and convey project concepts and to review and correct drawings by others.
Manage Capital Projects
  • Oversee project construction efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
  • Identify potential delays and stoppages in the schedule implementation and escalate it to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain contact with field representatives, contractors and suppliers to insure correct installation and to provide effective commissioning and start-up procedures.
  • Integrate plant initiatives and goals with regional objectives
  • Ensure a safe work environment and regulatory compliance with all federal, state, local regulations in cooperation with LNA policies
  • Diligently pursue and act immediately to improve safety, environmental compliance, and production quality/performance in the operational processes
  • Participates in company safety meetings and safety awareness initiatives at the locations.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

  • Knowledgeable in all phases of plant design, process evaluation, equipment application, construction management, commissioning, training, and coaching.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to train the trainer around electrical and automation techniques and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work on a project team and manage stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet all required deadlines.
  • Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
  • Good understanding of safety, environmental, and the desire to following all established procedures and standards are required.
  • Forward looking action-oriented team player that works well with cross functional groups.
  • Displays sound judgment when deciding among multiple alternatives.
  • Ability to multi-task while possessing excellent organizational, communication and proven problem-solving skills along with the ability to think "outside the box".
  • Ability to create and interpret drawings/prints.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on multiple projects in a continuous mining and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Work any shift, overtime, seven days a week including holidays if needed and be flexible to work schedule changes.
  • Must possess excellent human relations skills in dealing with employees, vendors and contractors.
  • Demonstrated good proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Microsoft Project, and AutoCad. SKM is a plus.
  • Physical Demands may include, but are not limited to:
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working in both an office environment and in a mining environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.

Required Experience:
Must have at least with at least 10+ years of previous industrial electrical or electronic control system, electrical schematics, control panels and PLC, software, programming for equipment (i.e. mixing, conveying and weighing applications), HMI and MCC, project management, capital installation experience in mining construction, and/or mining union or non-union environment. Must have experience commissioning of new equipment and systems are preferred. Strong understanding of material handling equipment and automation. Previous experience directing hourly employees and subcontractors.

Preferred Experience: Graduate degree; Professional Engineering Registration (P.E.)

Required Education: BS in Electrical Engineering.
