Role Details

[Company] is currently seeking an Engineer: Geotechnical to join the Waroonga Underground Mining Department at Agnew Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer: Geotechnical, you will be responsible for the provision of a quality geotechnical support service within the mine that will assist in the achievement of budget development, production, meeting all quality standards including cost, safety and environment.

This role is offered on an 4 days on 3 days off and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times.
  • Daily production tasks relating to geotechnical engineering including development plans, blasting plans, documentation of inspections, geotechnical monitoring, stope stability analysis, recommendations and QAQC.
  • Collection, maintaining and analysis of geotechnical data.
  • Communication of the geotechnical aspects of mining to the workforce and management.
  • Quality control of ground support installation and implement improvements as required.
  • Capable of running geotechnical aspects of a mine with some input from other senior staff and undertake work for medium term requirements of mine.
  • Seismic monitoring and analysis.
  • Provide technical support and analysis QAQC data for the paste fill system.
  • Actively identifying and managing of geotechnical risks and the development of systems to monitor and manage these.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and concerns.
  • Provide assistance with project work as required.

Key factors to your success include;
  • Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or Geology
  • We will consider applicants of any experience level up to 5 years' preferably in underground geotechnical engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory obligations
  • Experience using Map3D, mXrap, IMS software, Rocscience suite is advantageous
