Due to an internal promotion we are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager, in this position you will lead the 0.5 to 7 litre engine component design team, to develop engine components and systems to meet future market requirements.

Within this position you will be responsible for the full development lifecycle, from concept through to production and current product maintenance. You will coach, guide and facilitate the development of the work group to build collaborative relationships with suppliers, partners and customers to ensure goals are achieved - this will include close collaboration with teams in the US, China and India. You will provide leadership and process ownership for advanced production quality planning (APQP). You will create and maintain an organizational climate and culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, commitment, and a sense of urgency towards business success.

Work group size will be approximately 150 employees (permanent and agency) with a budget of $10M to $20M. You will continually learn and stay abreast of relevant technology, develop as a strategic thinker, and deepen your professional network. This position will be located at Peterborough, at Caterpillar's Global Engineering and Technology Centre.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

In this role, you will deepen your knowledge base of Caterpillar's products, technologies, processes, services and systems, which you will use to:

• Lead work group to complete objectives in design/development of products and processes
• Provide managerial and technical direction in product and process design, development and research
• Communicate results to global team members and internal partners
• Manage team's budget on cost
• Lead planning for future resource and capability development, in terms of people and technology
• Mentor and coach direct reports
• Accountable for process ownership (design process, APQP, design change, Bill of Materials, etc)
• Current product support (including quality support for the global facilities)

Skills and Experience:

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum
• Experience in engine development including design, validation and/or performance
• Demonstrated team leadership skills.
• Strong analytical skills
• Demonstrated relationship building skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Can engage and inspire a large team.

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

• Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes
