Position Summary:
  • Operate [Company] trucks and specialty equipment to deliver bulk explosives and other commercial explosives products to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Drive and operate all types of vehicles over public roads in order to move or deliver explosives products to company or customer sites
  • Assist the Blaster and other blast crew at the blast site in order to safely and promptly serve the customer

Essential Functions:
  • Ability to competently complete inventory records, other appropriate documentation and reports.
  • Drive/operate straight bed vehicles over public roads in order to move or deliver explosive products to company or customer sites in a timely and safe manner.
  • Drive and operate bulk/blend truck in order to prepare and deliver quality ANFO products to customer sites.
  • Operate and perform maintenance on straight, ANFO, and dewatering trucks (or less), deliver and off load product within DN H&S Management System procedures and practices.
  • Calibrate equipment, calculate fuel percentages and check emulsion density.
  • Load and unload all trucks, and maintain magazines, sites and inventories.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in the shop, while driving and operating equipment and while on blast sites in order to protect personal safety and safety of others.
  • Prepare and maintain all records and reports concerning the handling and transportation of explosive products, including safety, and the use and detonation of explosives, in order to assure accurate billing, regulatory compliance and performance history
  • Knowledgeable and use practices consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, SOPs, work site, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of, and comply with applicable DOT, OSHA, MSHA, EPA and BATFE.
  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Proactively handle safety issues and practice Take 5! process by using the HAT tool to promote personal responsibility for safety.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and assure that all crew members and others on the site follow all safety and regulatory procedures and practices to ensure a safe and successful event.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
  • Age 21 or older.
  • Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsements.
  • General knowledge of truck maintenance and explosives industry.
  • 12-24 months of mechanical, commercial driving experience preferred.

Technical:
  • General knowledge of truck maintenance and explosives industry.
  • 12-24 months of mechanical, commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Ability to competently complete inventory records, other appropriate documentation and reports.
  • Must satisfy the requirements for a "Possessor of Explosives" as defined by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment where required.
  • May require lifting of 60 lbs.

Work Environment
  • Frequent exposure to long distance driving, road hazards, hazardous and explosive materials
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment in remote locations
  • Working conditions are primarily outdoors in all weather conditions of temperature and climate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment where required, and may require lifting of 60 lbs.
