As a Project Exploration Geologist working within the Geology team at Leonora Operations, you will spend time in the field (within 50 - 100km radius from Leonora Operations) participating in the discovery of economic mineral deposits within the Leonora tenure by designing and undertaking field exploration programs and critically evaluating the outcomes from completed exploration activities.

Our ideal candidate will be results-focussed and confident to produce high quality geological outputs (e.g. geological mapping and modelling, core logging, sampling and QA/QC management, consistent with the business plan and designated project plans. Understanding of relevant internal and external compliance obligations and a desire to be a welcome guest in host communities is essential.

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • A degree qualification in Geology (or related discipline)
  • Ability to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes
  • A current unencumbered 'C' Class Driver's Licence (or equivalent)
  • A sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to exploration
  • Strong geoscientific knowledge, especially understanding of structural controls on gold mineralisation at regional to local scale.
  • Sound understanding of the Regolith profile in the Eastern Goldfields and its effects on gold distribution
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, manage and interpret high quality geoscientific data particularly from Aircore and RC drilling
  • An ability to produce robust geological interpretations in plan and section.
  • Experience in using lithogeochemistry to classify rock and alteration types
  • Demonstrated experience using Vulcan, Leapfrog and ArcGIS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a small team to ensure that all contractors and employees adhere to the Company's HSE policies and practices
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks and a high level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
  • Experience in the design and planning of field greenfield exploration programmes
  • Extensive experience monitoring, logging and undertaking risk assessments for Aircore and RC drilling
  • Sound understanding of the Regolith profile in the Archean terrains and its effects on gold distribution

This role is offered on an 8 day on / 6 day off roster, FIFO from Perth, DIDO from Kalgoorlie or Residential Leonora. The Project Exploration Geologist will have an air-conditioned room with private ensuite at the Leonora Village and have access to an onsite gym, pool, recreation room, bbq area and other recreational activities.
