Finance Planning and Reporting Manager

Reports to: Financial Controller

Position Summary:
  • Serve as project manager for DNA consolidated budgeting and forecasting process
  • Identify opportunities to streamline budget and forecasting process in Host
  • Provide meaningful monthly, semi-annual, and annual reporting packages and analysis to support core business processes and strategic initiatives
  • Design and develop dashboards through Qlikview to streamline management reporting
  • Manage integration of Demand Planning and financial planning/budgeting

Essential Functions:
  • Personally invest in Dyno's safety culture by complying with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the annual consolidated budget process, including driving participation, updating documentation, and creating a strong cadence regarding the budget process.
  • Set best-in-class organizational reporting standards, processes, and financial targets to improve efficiency and meet strategic goals.
  • Design and develop dashboards to provide management with timely, accurate, and actionable reporting and analysis (i.e. Qlikview).
  • Develop alternative budget and forecast scenarios based on multiple data sources and present analysis and recommendations to the Finance Leadership Team.
  • Compare actual financial statements to budget and forecast, identifying trends and deviations from standard operations, in order to provide DNA management with appropriate and timely business information.
  • Partner with commercial and operational managers to understand and explain variances and trends.
  • Develop and prepare standard and non-standard reports and statements to support corporate reporting, including: IPL half year and year end reporting packages, investor relations reporting, monthly Board and management reporting, volume reporting, etc.
  • Own the delivery of financial data, and ensure data consistency across all reporting platforms and packages.
  • Provide succinct support to internal and external auditors for corporate reporting packages used in audit process.
  • Champion adherence to DNA external reporting policies and procedures.
  • Use critical thinking to self-assess reports being used by Dyno, and how reports could be modified to better isolate and identify meaningful trends.
  • Act as an advocate for maximizing shareholder return by actively participating in EBIT enhancing activities.
  • Communicate with supervisors; managers; and other business, corporate, accounting, and finance staffs in order to obtain and exchange information.
  • Effectively use and promote the IPL process for goal setting, providing feedback, developing employees and assessing job performance.


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

  • 3-4 years' experience in corporate finance/accounting, with preference given to budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • 2-3 years' experience in Public Accounting Environment (Preferred).

Leadership Skills:
  • Ability to train and teach the accounting and finance systems.

Language Skills:
  • Ability to communicate with non-Finance staff to help them understand the accounting principles they need when inputting data into SAP.
  • Second Language (French/Spanish) an advantage.

Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to create and follow complex formulas and relationships in worksheets.

Computer Skills:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SAP financial modules (example - FI,AP, AR, cost and profit center accounting), Business Warehouse.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with budgeting software and data visualization software (Qlikview, Tableau).

Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc). Ability to identify and process a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
