Overview

We are seeking a Geotechnical Technician to help manage the installation and measuring of monitoring equipment in the open pit mine at our Telfer operation, as well as to assist with construction project work. You will not be required to interpret the data, but play a key role to ensure the equipment is operating effectively and to site standards and compliance.

Reporting directly to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will be responsible for:
  • Moving and setting up radar and other mobile monitoring equipment;
  • Installing prisms and piezometers as required;
  • Completing routine testing and sampling;
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of equipment and work area;
  • Preparing reports as requested.
  • Complying with all safety and environmental systems / standards and ensure related contract workers are also compliant.

This is a permanent position that will work on a FIFO, (8 days on/6 days off) roster.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have a passion for safety, be team orientated and enjoy undertaking continuous improvement activities. You will demonstrate a high level of integrity and be willing to take ownership and drive the role with an enthusiasm. With experience from a similar Geotechnical or General Technician position, you will also have previous field exposure to the Communications sector, specifically with radio and WIFI systems. Your strong stakeholder and communication skills will enable you to develop and maintain relationships with the team and other departments on site and your positive attitude and strong work ethic will see you enjoy this collaborative team culture and succeed in the role.

Previous experience from the Australian Defence Force will be highly regarded and transferable.
