[Company]’s acquisition of the Pajingo Gold mine in North Queensland was an important step on our growth journey. The Pajingo mine is around 75km from Charters Towers and currently employs around 200 people to run the underground mining and ore processing operations.  Charters Towers is close to Townsville and the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.  It also offers excellent schooling opportunities and has all the facilities you would expect for a large regional township.

Supporting our current expansion strategy for the Pajingo Mine, we are seeking a Database Administrator to join us on a fulltime permanent basis on 5/2 and 4/3 or 9/5 roster, ideally, we are searching for someone who would either like to move to Charters Towers or do a DIDO from Townsville or similar.

Reporting into the Senior Resource Geologist, this role is responsible for ensuring that resource estimation and data management is conducted to industry best practice.

To be successful in this role you will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Geostatistics would be highly desirable
  • A minimum 5 years industry experience
  • 5 years of direct database experience
  • The ability to adapt and respond to changes in timely and accurate manner
  • Advanced computer literacy in specialised Geology software such as Acquire and Mapinfo
  • The ability to prioritise a conflicting work schedule while consistently maintaining high attention to detail
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure the accurate and timely co-ordination of direct data entry and data importation into the Acquire Database for drill holes, ensuring appropriate validation
  • Record location and description of cultural sites based on information provided by Cultural Heritage Officers and ensuring current data is accessible to site for planning purposes
  • Manage and produce Cartography requirements for the Exploration Department using MapInfo and be responsible for the integrity of all information recorded in geology data bases ongoing monitoring and audit function.
  • Coordinate and control access to Geology Business Systems and be responsible for the security of the systems.
  • Act as a technical reference point for staff with regards to geology business systems particularly the Acquire Database and provide GIS/cartographic support for the Geology group
  • Be responsible for the monthly QA QC reports tracking sampling, assaying compliance in addition to other numerical data sources e.g. drill collar co-ordinates and downhole survey.
  • Be proactive in identifying and reporting potential hazards and eliminating risk taking behaviours or actions
  • Commit to maintaining health, safety and security standards and principles, both within own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout [Company]
