The 55 million tonnes per annum [Company] Project represents the next generation of integrated iron ore mine, rail and port projects to be developed in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Situated 115 kilometres north of Newman, in one of the world’s premier iron ore provinces, the world class [Company] Project is the only independent iron ore project with West Australian majority ownership. With a defined mineralisation of more than 2.4 billion tonnes of high grade iron ore, enough to sustain a mine of life of more than 20 years, the [Company] Project is introducing a new wave of innovation, technology and knowledge to Australia’s iron ore industry.

We are currently looking to appoint a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team, who will report to the Principal Technical Commercial.

This role will provide engineering support to the Non-OEM Spares Project Team. Typical duties include technical input on the tender process and implementation of improvement projects. This will include site visits on an as-required basis.

This is a fixed term contract until March 30th 2018 based at our Remote Operations Centre near the Perth International Airport.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Develop technical documentation and collate technical drawings and specifications for tenders.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of tender submissions.
  • Develop results packages for tenders to communicate to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement appropriate change management actions.
  • Develop and execute improvement projects.
  • Review and updating of project and technical documents.
  • Provide input and update project progress reports.
  • Some travel to the Roy Hill Mine site and Port Hedland to assist with project works, identification of spare parts, meetings with stakeholders, risk assessments, change management actions and management of improvement projects. 

Essential Criteria:

  • You will have 0-6 months engineering experience or vacation work experience. 
  • Tertiary qualification in a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering (must have graduated).
  • Current C class unrestricted manual driving licence.

Candidates will demonstrate an ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, possess a high attention to detail, will demonstrate initiative, and be driven to succeed. They will also be proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Proficiency in MS Excel, visual basic, and data analysis is desirable.
