The 55 million tonnes per annum [Company] Project represents the next generation of integrated iron ore mine, rail and port projects to be developed in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Situated 115 kilometres north of Newman, in one of the world’s premier iron ore provinces, the world class [Company] Project is the only independent iron ore project with West Australian majority ownership. With a defined mineralisation of more than 2.4 billion tonnes of high grade iron ore, enough to sustain a mine of life of more than 20 years, the [Company] Project is introducing a new wave of innovation, technology and knowledge to Australia’s iron ore industry.

We are currently looking to appoint a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our team, who will report to the Manager, Engineering Civil & Structural, providing structural engineering support to the operations including technical investigations, project development and execution, report writing, development and implementation of improvements. This will include secondments to various areas of the business, including to site. This is a 2 year fixed term contract based at our Remote Operations Centre near the Perth International Airport.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assist with audits of Structural equipment, balance Machines and documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct technical investigation of plant problems, outages or failures including recommending actions.
  • Undertaken technical inspections of fixed Plant asset integrity, reporting and scoping
  • Development assistance on Roy Hill Standards, specifications and procedures
  • Develop and execute appropriate improvement projects.
  • Review and updating of technical documents.
  • Use initiative to suggest efficiencies and improvements.
  • Communicate relevant technical issues to senior managers/supervisors/team leaders.
  • Periodic to frequent travel to the Mine, Port and rail to assist with project works, inspections and commissioning of minor projects. Technical and infield experience will be undertaken particularly during plant shutdown periods, project planning and execution. Periods of secondment to site will be included. Site work can be unscheduled and ability to react is desirable but not essential.

Essential Criteria:

  • You will have some engineering experience or vacation work experience. 
  • Tertiary qualification in a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Structural Engineering.
  • Current C class unrestricted manual driving licence.
  • Entry acceptance to Engineers Australia or demonstrated ability to apply for membership.
  • Ability to undertake remote site based work.

Candidates will demonstrate an ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, possess a high attention to detail, will demonstrate initiative, and be driven to succeed. They will also be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
