We now have the opportunity to recruit a fixed term contract for a HSE Advisor to be based on site for our Client in Mildura, Victoria.

The role requires responsibility as a site based, front line advisor to provide support to field operations and project delivery.

This includes co-ordinating, developing, implementing and maintaining project specific HSE systems to effectively and efficiently support the safe and sustainable delivery of work across a range of construction project sites in a variety of locations.

The role provides leadership and coaching to project workers and contractors to ensure all HSE systems, processes and requirements are executed to a high quality and opportunities for continual improvement are optimised.

The HSE advisor is also responsible for helping to drive development and improvement within the team and assist the rest of the HSE group in developing strong and sustainable relationships with stakeholders to develop and embed a best practice HSE culture.

Key Knowledge and skills required for this role:

  • Detailed knowledge of all HSE management aspects associated with construction work and associated activities
  • Detailed knowledge of contemporary construction practices, particularly the practical application of HSE systems in these environments
  • Knowledge & understanding of regulatory compliance issues, OHS / WHS Legislation, Environmental legislation, Australian and International standards and codes
  • Influence and relationship building skills to drive core values and behaviours into operations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to influence change
  • Sound computer skills in the standard Microsoft product suite
  • Strong public speaking and presentation ability

Interpret and implement Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Standards and Codes of Practice to provide advice to project management teams and site workers to ensure a safe working environment

Ability to conduct and be qualified to perform drug and alcohol testing onsite and follow up sessions with site based staff and contractors following testing

Education/Qualifications:

  • Minimum Diploma Level (Health and Safety and/or Environmental)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
  • Formal investigation training (ICAM is preferred)

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years experience on construction projects in site based roles
  • Experience with construction in the power industry or other utilities would be an advantage
  • Health and Safety and Environmental legislation interpretation and application
  • Report / Document writing

You will be collaborative in nature and be able to positively influence and educate workers in HSE practices and processes.
