About the role

Currently we are seeking to engage a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join the Risk, Security, Safety team. Reporting to the HSE Manager WA, this role provides technical, behavioural and leadership expertise, as well as guidance, education, coaching and mentoring to our front line management in areas of health, safety and environment.

As a part of the role you will:
  • Provide leadership coupled with coaching and mentoring to influence and train our front line management to ensure effective risk management and strategies are put in place to ensure the wellbeing of our employees
  • Lead and facilitate incident investigations using a range of HSE tools and models.
  • Ensure HSE Management systems and processes are accurate, relevant and in line with best practices
  • Attend various store/department, Pre Shift Instruction meetings (PSI) within allocated departments ensuring safety is being discussed and promote HSE awareness in the wider business

We require you to have a strong background in HSE and a commitment to our lifesaving commitments. You will also have excellent communication and public speaking skills coupled with advanced computer literacy skills. Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills will be imperative to this role along with the ability to provide recommendations as required. You will enjoy working with a diverse workforce and have previous experience in developing and facilitating training to meet their needs. A high attention to detail is required to be successful as well as a passion for identifying continuous improvements initiatives.

You will also have:
  • A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline, and a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in a HSE or similar role
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • ICAM (or similar methodology) Lead Investigator course and experience in root causal analysis
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and proven ability to interpret conditions

Previous operational industry experience will be highly regarded as well as a valid Senior First Aid Certificate, Internal/Lead Auditor qualification and Injury Management qualifications and experience
