Intermountain Electronics, Inc. is currently recruiting for an Instrumentation/Controls Technician located at our Price, UT facility. IE is a leading provider of custom engineered and manufactured process and electrical systems to the mining, oil & gas, and power/utility industries in North America. IE's turnkey products are generally mobile - mounted on skids or in portable e-houses. Our products include portable power/generators, substations, electrical control rooms (MCCs/VFDs/switchgear), water-flood/disposal buildings, compressor skids, metering equipment, LACT units, WD's, and other products used in the energy, oil & gas, and mining sectors.

This position is responsible for providing technical services in the area of process controls and instrumentation including programming, installation, configuration testing, calibrating and troubleshooting various control & process systems.

Major Duties:
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting service on company products at customer sites which may include: equipment calibrations & device integrations, troubleshooting, repairs, PLC programming, SCADA communication hardware, HMI interfaces, metering devices, sensors, etc.
  • Diagnose and resolve automation & process control system issues and problems
  • Perform changes in software programs such as adding or modifying system signals, graphic displays, alarms and trending and functional operation of all instrumentation systems
  • Participate in field commissioning of projects as needed
  • Keep current with hardware and software updates and improvements
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, Hipot to ensure compatibility and safety of systems
  • Analyze and identify process improvement opportunities including safety, environmental performance, and product quality
  • Respond to customer requests for assistance which includes working in underground mines and working holidays and weekends when necessary
  • Travel up to 65% of the time

Experience and Skills
  • Three (3) years' experience as an automation, instrumentation, or process controls technician or field engineer. A two (2) year Associates degree in Industrial Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation, or Process Controls is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical diagrams, conduit diagrams, loop sheets ladder logic charts and, all wiring diagrams
  • Working knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation, PLC Programming (e.g. Allen Bradley), HMI Development and Programming, process control systems including RTU, control panels, motor starters, VFD's and associated control panel components
  • Strong electrical safety knowledge including arc flash protection and proper methods when working with live circuits.
  • LOTO process certification in a team environment
  • Proper use and working knowledge of test and measurement equipment (signal generators, data loggers, etc.)
  • Physically be able to lift 40 lbs. or more, climb ladders and remain on feet for several hours at a time
  • Knowledge of SCADA and SCADA Communications
  • Able to travel up to 65% of the time
  • Must have or can obtain MSHA surface and underground work certification
  • Must be able to work in underground mines and able to work weekends and holidays when required
