[Company] is currently looking to hire an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to be based out of our Edmonton office. This is an opportunity to work with world-class engineers dedicated to working on civil and geotechnical engineering projects from conceptual design to final construction. On occasion your expertise may be needed by our parent company on some of their challenging international projects.


• Planning, conducting, and supervising geotechnical investigations.

• Evaluating geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures.

• Conducting foundation investigations for commercial, industrial, and high rise buildings.

• Completing shallow and deep foundation design.

• Conducting and reviewing seismic assessments.

• Conducting dam safety reviews and completing remediation designs.

• Conducting and reviewing slope stability and embankment assessments and completing designs.

• Analyzing field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and recommendations.

• Preparing proposals, budgeting and scheduling of technical field staff.

• Mentoring and coaching junior staff members.

• Communicating with clients and sub-consultants and internal stakeholders.

• Minimum of an Undergraduate degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.

• A M.Sc. or M.Eng. degree in geotechnical engineering would be considered an asset.

• A minimum of 8+ years' experience in a geotechnical engineering capacity is preferred.

• Experience in a consulting engineering environment is required.

• Some experience establishing and maintaining client relationships including business development.

• Previous experience in site reconnaissance and investigations to assess site suitability for development of commercial, industrial, high rise buildings, subdivisions, dams, and highways.

• Several years of experience writing internal and external reports and proposals.

• Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.

• Previous experience leading, mentoring and coaching team members.

• Previous experience using GeoStudio 2007 Products and MS Office is essential.

• Previous experience using Plaxis, Lpile, GRLWEAP, DYNA, FLAC and Settle 3D would be considered an asset.

• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), teamwork and mentorship skills are essential.

• Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player.

• Travel may be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments, in Alberta and within western Canada.

• Must be physically capable of performing the manual field duties required.

• Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, and possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
