We are looking for a bright, positive individual to join a world-class team of permafrost engineers, scientists, and technologists working on large-scale, arctic-region projects. [Company] is an industry leader in areas such as frozen core dam construction, permafrost site investigations, ice engineering for roads and pads, thermal modelling, and permafrost geology. This position will provide the opportunity to work on projects related to diamond mines, metal mines, oil and gas fields, and government infrastructure sites.


• Project management

• Planning, conducting, and supervising geotechnical investigations

• Analyzing field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and recommendations

• Preparing proposals, budgeting, and scheduling of technical field staff.

• Mentoring and coaching junior staff members

• Communicating with clients, sub-consultants, and internal stakeholders

• Broad-based geotechnical skill development to address the life-cycle needs of a major northern project: design, construction, and closure

• Conducting construction monitoring with northern construction partners to ensure the job meets the client's needs

• Degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil Engineering

• Preference will be given to candidates that have northern work experience

• A minimum of 8 years of relevant geotechnical experience

• Experience in a consulting engineering environment is required

• Previous experience establishing and maintaining client relationships

• Experience working in a consulting engineering environment at a project management level

• Experience writing internal and external reports and proposals

• Previous experience mentoring and coaching team members

• Good time management skill, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player

• Travel will be required in this position. Candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments in Northern Canada, including Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon

• Must be physically capable of performing the required field duties

• Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent)

• Must be registered as a professional engineer by APEGA

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
