Position Purpose:

  • Responsible for designing, modifying and troubleshooting server and storage systems as well as proactive monitoring and maintenance of the virtualized server operations, performance and availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support, monitor and maintenance of storage arrays
  • Support of Microsoft Operating Systems (2003/2008) as well as VMware environment assuring security of all network based systems
  • After-hours support for server and storage maintenance activities
  • Provide off-hours support through participation in an on-call team rotation
  • Analyze technologies, technical processes and/or functions, document findings, identify areas for improvement and create specifications and implement
  • Develops and improves documentation to enhance and support problems analysis and resolution.
  • Continuously develop, implement and support the appropriate testing of the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans
  • Plan architecture, infrastructure and administer mission critical systems
  • Work closely with business analysts and developers to support existing applications and create new products in a fast paced software development environment
  • Perform backups and restore of all Windows based systems
  • Administer and maintain datacenter environment

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related professional experience
  • At least 2 years of technical experience as a systems administrator
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft and VMware operating systems and applications
  • Windows Server 2003 – 2008 experience
  • Active Directory & Group Policy experience
  • 2+ years virtualized server administration experience
  • Flexibility to work diverse schedules
  • Ability to work effectively in mission-critical environment
  • Possess knowledge and experience in developing, customizing and implementing software solutions.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate (verbally and written) to all levels of the business
  • Ability to work closely with others/teamwork
  • Ability to react quickly in crisis situation

Additional Information:

  • Analyzes issues, troubleshoots problems and develops solutions for operational telecommunication problems.
  • Participates and contributes to Unified Communications team. Duties include developing and implementing plans for the continued improvement of voice networks, scouting, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies.
  • Assists in day-to-day support of server-side related help desk requests.
  • Works with telecom providers in regards to voice management, planning, and problems when needed.
  • Maintains routing between disparate voice systems.
  • Ensures that all telecom support issues are handled promptly with a minimum down-time or user disruption and inconvenience. All requests for Unified Communications actions are logged, tracked, and delivered in a timely and professional manner.
  • Establishes and monitors system metrics that can be used to measure communication systems availability and performance.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented systems and equipment.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years experience in a Unified Communications engineer role in an environment where Lync/Skype for Business is the primary phone system.
  • Experience planning, deploying and managing Skype for Business/Lync 2013 in a fully Enterprise Voice enabled environment.
  • Experience with voice gateways/session border controllers integrating them with Lync/Skype for Business and legacy analog devices (faxes/paging systems).
  • Experience with call routing via session border controller and Lync/Skype for Business.
  • Experience with regular expressions and PowerShell.
  • Applicants must be familiar with all underlying supporting technologies for Lync/Skype for Business; SIP, certificates, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell, Group Policy, Windows Server, Exchange unified communications, etc.
  • Applicants should also be familiar with a variety of telecommunications concepts, practices and procedures and will be responsible for resolving any telecom related issues with our phone service providers.
