Tanzania. There are three operating gold mines - Bulyanhulu, North Mara and Tulawaka; a gold mine project - Buzwagi; and a nickel mine project - Kabanga.
This position exists at Bulyanhulu Gold Mine (BGM), the mine is an underground mining operation based in Bulyanhulu, which is a two hour flight North West of Dar Es salaam, Tanzania. Current employees at this site numbers approximately 2 000 including contractors
C I Superintendent - Expat (1)
We are seeking a dedicated, self motivated and highly organised C I Superintendent. The successful applicant will report to the Commercial Manager. His primary role will be to guide, encourage, and actively support Bulyanhulu mine management and improvement teams in deploying the three stage problem solving process that is a foundation of the Barrick operating system (BOS) and implementing advanced problem solving and learn Tools (e.g. standardize work, 5S, Visual controls, SMED) in order to realise operating efficiencies never before thought possible.
The C I Superintendent is also responsible for facilitating the sharing of knowledge across Bulyanhulu operations by identifying and codifying new practices and other improvement ideas for others to use.
The principle duties include, but are not limited to:
· Articulating and reinforcing the vision strategy and principles associated with Barrick continuous improvement initiatives.
· Educating Management and Staff improvement teams in the problem solving tools and techniques that will be used to realise these results and supporting the effective deployment of these tools and techniques.
· Effectively communicating with and engaging the workforce to realise improvement opportunities and goals.
· Identifying expert and shareable knowledge and making this information available to others via formal networks.
· Co-ordination of CI initiatives and Projects across the site ensuring that progress is maintained through application of structured problem solving techniques, regular progress reviews and timely reporting.
· Implementation, valuation and management of the idea suggestion system.
· Tracking of project outcomes in collaboration with individual project champions and making results highly visible to the frontline workforce.
· Tendering support to all aspects of the improvement projects ranging from skills transfer of problem-solving methods through to prioritisation of work-plans.
· Initial Project Focus: Cost culture awareness, critical spares action plan, mine planning process map and stope utilization mapping
