Purpose of Role
Repairs and maintains heavy diesel equipment such as shovels, loaders, graders, dozers, haul trucks, service vehicle and other related equipment, by using hand tools poer tools and other diagnostic equipment. Will field-test equipment to evaluate performance plus perform welding and cutting as needed.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
1. Responsible for gathering technical information to perform the job. Trouble shooting, diagnosing, modifying, fabricating and repairing mobile and stationary equipment electrical systems, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, drive trains and track equipment undercarriages by using specialized testing equipment and electrical systems knowledge.
2. Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose problems and/or defects and after repairs.
3. Prepares computer generated work orders, change out parts and follows procedures to pick up parts and supplies from the warehouse. Prepares all associated paperwork for the accounting department and those needed to make a smooth shift transition.
4. Performs equipment walk around in order to make a preventative maintenance check and inspect all assigned equipment. Reports finding to supervisor and takes appropriate action. Disposes of wasted and trains other employees.
5. Responsible for all tasks related to preventative maintenance program such as reposting fluid leaks, performing lube work, taking fluid samples, inspecting components and parts for proper operation damage or wear, etc. Repair and replace components and parts as need.
6. Performs welding as needed.
7. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
8. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
9. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
10. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
11. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
