The Phu Bia Gold project, currently operating in Laos, will soon be complimented with the development of the World Class, 12 mtpa Phu Kham Copper-Gold Project. Reporting to the General Manager – Phu Kham Operations the Geology Manager is responsible for the development, management and implementation of geological short-term and long-term strategies, plans and programs including mine geology, database and resource/reserve estimation and geotechnical issues for Phu Kahm Copper/Gold and Phu BiaBia Gold Mine.
The key objective of this position is to effectively lead and manage the Geology team to produce results in a style that fosters morale and team building, and to ensure training and development of both expatriate and Lao Geologists and Pit Geological Technicians, and ensure plans are in place to nationalize roles over a reasonable timeframe.
Applications are invited from degree qualified Geologists with more than 10 years Open Pit experience, preferably within gold and copper-gold open pit operations. Previous experience in South East Asia and a strong understanding of cross-cultural requirements in developing countries will be highly regarded.
This position is offered with a choice of residency and roster. The successful candidate can elect to reside in the former French colony of Vientiane, a city offering a cultural explosion - with an amazing mix of Asian and European influence in terms of cuisine and architecture, and participate in a 10 days on, 4 days off drive in, drive out roster providing five nights at home with the family. Alternatively, one can elect to do a 28 days on, 14 days off, fly in, fly out roster with 1.5 travel days as part of the 28 days. Return airfares are to the point of hire which can be anywhere in the world. In addition, the position carries to a low-tax salary package, with a significant location allowance for those people who prefer the residential option.
