Senior Project Mining Engineer

Our client, a junior international mining company, is looking for a Senior Project Mining Engineer for their Mexico based operation currently under development/construction.

Responsibility Summary:

The Senior Project Mining Engineer will be involved in all engineering activities related to the safe and efficient construction and extraction of the ore from this hard rock underground operation. The person in this position will be responsible for providing a wide range of technical support for all mining related activities on the site; this would include decline construction, mining and reclamation plans, production budget and cost analyses. They would assist the Mine Manager and contribute to the promotion of a positive team atmosphere at the operation. This would include working with the Field Services Supervisor and Mine Contractors to develop and implement mine plans.

The Ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent is required
• Minimum of 10 years in a mine development, design/planning role; proficiency with computerized mine planning and reporting techniques and an understanding of financial analysis techniques is required.
• Underground mining experience in base metals and gold production, preferably prior experience working in project start-ups and/or building of new teams.
• Should have broad knowledge of industry production, maintenance and engineering standards as well as a strong understanding of safety and environmental requirements associated with mining projects. Effective problem solving capabilities.
• The candidate should possess good communication skills, both written and verbal as they will be required to interact with and relate to a wide range of people both on and off site.
• A positive attitude toward occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
• Preferred qualification would be Bilingual (English/Spanish, written and verbal).
