Mine Chemist/Laboratory Supervisor

AngloGold ( Colorado) Corp., manager for the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company, has an immediate opening for a Chemist/Laboratory Supervisor at its mine site located 3 miles south of Cripple Creek, Colorado.

The successful candidate will have 5 – 7 years of experience in the mining industry, working in an Analytical Laboratory. The primary responsibility of this position is the supervision of the Process Laboratory. Previous supervisory experience is necessary for this position. A B.S. degree in Chemistry or a related field is required. Must have a working knowledge of Fire Assay with aqua regia digestion; atomic absorption, QA/QC related to lab operations; and analytical instrumentation, as well as the ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment. This position is responsible for supervising a crew of Laboratory Technicians, as well as maintaining a safe, environmentally sensitive and productive workplace.

This position demands excellent analytical, management, organization and communication skills. The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision. Special skills for this position include: computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and Access 97-00, knowledge of Wet Chemistry, and statistical expertise.

This position reports to the Chief Metallurgist.
