Executive Manager Mining

Our client operates one of the world’s largest open cut copper/gold mines producing copper concentrate for the world’s smelting market. The Manager Mining will manage an operation which moves 80,000,000 tonnes per annum from an open cut mine using drill and blast followed by shovels excavating 15 metre benches. Ore is moved by truck to waste and processing facilities. The operation is in an environmentally sensitive and logistically challenging area; besides managing the technical challenges of the operation, the incumbent must be capable of managing external stakeholder’s issues in an empathetic and commercially sensitive way.

The role reports to the General Manager Operation and forms part of an energetic and highly capable executive management team accountable for the leadership and management of the whole site. We are seeking a professionally equipped Mining Engineer with the skill and management ability to manage a technically and logistically challenging operation in a stand alone environment, promoting and sustaining a safe working culture. Previous experience working with an indigenous workforce would be highly regarded.
