Our Client is an international energy company with extensive global operations in coal mining, oil refining, lubricant and LPG manufacturing, petrochemical plants and marketing of petroleum products.
Applications are now invited for the Brisbane-based position of Commercial Manager, reporting directly to the General Manager, Commercial in the company's corporate office. You will strongly interact with all senior executives, corporate General Managers, mine General Managers, internal specialists, service providers and a wide range of supporting consultants.
In broad terms, your contribution to the company's commercial success will extend into the business areas of general managerial issues, general administration, human resources, legal, public relations and IT.
Your specific responsibilities, will include:
· Commercial negotiations of major contracts for key supplies, services, infrastructure development and other long-term contracts, such as rail and port contracts
· Providing strategic and commercial analysis support for a wide range of business issues
· Oversight of office administration
· Corporate governance
· Review, develop, document and implement company policies, processes and procedures
· Develop policies for internal compliance, the risk assessment process, and implement the internal controls required for Japanese companies (JSOX)
· Support business improvement and rationalisation
· Group planning co-ordination including budget, mid-term plans, long-term plans
· Keeping abreast of all mining operations and providing hands-on support for mine GM's on issues that may not be relayed directly to mining activity, e.g. legal, contracts, community, government, etc.
You will have tertiary qualifications which have equipped you with business, legal, contractual or economics acumen, to which you will have ideally added more than 10 years of commercial exposure in the mining industry. You will have already successfully demonstrated strong analytical, business planning, IT, communication and interpersonal relationship skills. Your dynamic nature would welcome new challenges.
