Senior Exploration Geologist

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Senior Exploration Geologist is to work closely with the Principal Geologist(s) to define targets and plan exploration programmes and to then lead the field team of Geologists and Technicians to the discovery of new gold deposits that will have a significant impact on the Company’s earnings and growth, as safely, quickly, cheaply and as frequently as possible whilst minimizing environmental impact.
Key Performance Areas:
The Senior Exploration Geologist is primarily responsible for the day to day field management of projects and exploration programmes within the LVGF district both on a technical and administrative level.
Responsibilities include:
As part of the Exploration Team, the candidate will be responsible for:
- Targeting, planning and implementing regional exploration strategies
- Planning and selection of ground for exploration activity
- Evaluation of development and acquisition opportunities
- Monitoring schedule of prospecting licenses and planning exploration activities to aid in decision making
- Supervision and control of drilling programs
- Supervision of geophysical and geochemical surveys
- Geologic mapping of exploration prospects
- Evaluation of data
- Production of technical reports for the Company, joint venture partners and government authorities
- Supervise and coach project/contract geologists in the effective collection and interpretation of exploration data.
- Ensure at all times that all field personnel comply with the highest possible OH&S standards.
- Supervise external contractors and ensure activities are in compliance with BEAL, community and environmental standards.
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor of Science (Geology) with Honors. A further advanced degree will be favorable
· 8+ years working experience (preferably in the mining/exploration sector)
· Continued professional development and technical training.
Skills/Attributes.
· Good communication and administration skills.
· Self motivation, leadership and management skills.
· You have experience in exploration targeting, planning and implementing regional exploration programs. You are also proficient in GIS management, including ArcGIS and 3D modeling software.
· Must be prepared to work varied hours to accomplish the requirements.
· Knowledge of Tanzanian customs and legal process
