Where Mining Finds Its People

This job has expired. Click here to see new and active jobs like this one.

Jobs on CareerMine expire for many reasons. Either the employer has requested the advanced expiration of the job (as the vacancy has been filled or cancelled), or the job ad has expired after its normal running-time of 60 days within the CareerMine system. While there is the possibility that the vacancy may still be active, it is most likely that it has been filled or cancelled; otherwise it would be on CareerMine still.

It is strongly advised that you do not contact the company or advertising agency regarding this, or any other expired role, for the purposes of gaining employment with that company. Companies often impose strict penalties on job seekers who go outside of the established channels, to contact the employer regarding vacancies. (Employers have also made it clear in the past, that sourcing expired jobs and contacting them regarding their status, is one of these non-established routes.)

With financing now complete, construction is commencing, and we are looking to recruit key members of our operational team. This represents an opportunity to be involved from an early stage with the development of this exciting project.

We are currently looking for a Mining Manager to manage the day to day activities of the open pit mine and its employees. The Mining Manager will ensure that the mine is adequately staffed and that the staff are correctly trained to operate all equipment and perform their duties in a safe manner.  In conjunction with the Mine Planner, you will schedule and optimize production from the mine to meet plant feed requirements.  The Mining Manager will have a strong demonstrable knowledge of mining safety culture and will be able to apply it in an environment where current regulation is limited.

In your role as Mining Manager you will be responsible for both the initial orientation and ongoing training of all mine employees, and will assist the HR Manager with the hiring process of the mining team. Working with the Maintenance Manager, you will ensure that the mining fleet is properly maintained, and will develop an appropriate maintenance schedule. A key role will be to prepare and obtain approval for budgets, cost estimates, capital expenditure, and production schedules which relate to the mining fleet. Importantly, you will ensure effective communication to maintain a strong link between senior management and the open pit, and will ensure legal compliance with all in country regulations to protect the company’s interests and maintain a safe working environment.

To be considered for this role you must have:
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Mining Engineering or related discipline

  • A minimum of 7 years hard rock experience of open pit development and grade control
