General Mine Manager

Our client is a mineral exploration and development company strategically positioned to achieve near-term cash flow, while assembling a portfolio of early stage projects with high economic potential.  They are building a high-performance, people-focused team to re-develop an existing open pit silver mine in Nevada.
 
The company is seeking a strong leader who will finalize the re-development of property and take the Company into production.  The Company has already submitted the key permits applications with the appropriate Federal and State agencies and has undertaken the detailed process of the finalization of the permit approvals in a collaborative effort with these Agencies.
 
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to build a safe, efficient and effective team to realize the full potential of this ore body.  This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious mining professional looking to take their career to the next level.
 
We are seeking to fill the position of General Manager.  Candidates should have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mining or Metallurgical Engineering or other applicable qualification. 
  • Minimum of 15 to 20 years of industry experience with 5 years experience in a similar position.  Demonstrated knowledge of project related activities and the ability to think strategically and anticipate rather than react to issues.
  • Extensive experience in the operational management of an open pit mine, with associated previous metals processing plant and tailings facility.
  • A strong belief in appropriate safety, environmental and social performance in all endeavors.
  • A knowledge and appreciation of project feasibility studies and project permitting.  
  • Strong abilities to manage precious metals plant refurbishment, operations and maintenance.
  • The demonstrated ability to develop a small and efficient team of motivated professionals to re-establish the open pit mine, refurbish the mill and construct and operate a new tailings facility with all activities performed to the highest safety and environmental standards in accordance with the licenses granted.
  • Effective problem solving capabilities.
  • An innovative leader with excellent project management skills combined with strong leadership capabilities. Solid interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain good relationships with public/private agencies/businesses as well as management level relationships. 
  • Strong understanding of budgets with solid organizational, presentation, negotiating and communication skills both oral and written.
