THE POSITION
This position reports to the General Manager for Technical Assistance.
 
Key Responsibilities
·         Keep a reliable and updated Customers’ Technical Information Database
·         Provide technical assistance to customers, planning & production areas, company’s international offices as well as marketing and sales departments
·         Follow-up customers’ requests with regard to products’ quality and performance issues
·         Discuss contractual technical specifications together with Sales Managers
·         Provide critical analysis of customers’ technical complaints
·         Monitor customers’ operational performance (productivity, burden composition), as well as company’s products competitiveness in the their plants
·         Monitor and negotiate non-conformant claims to be paid to customers, for off-specification products
 
Challenges
·         Create a solid and reputable network of key contacts within their respective area of responsibility.
·         Provide short-term burden solutions to customers, aligned with company’s guidelines and operational capabilities so that the final iron/pellet mix generates optimum value to both parties.
·         Identify and analyze iron ore/pellet business opportunities, threats, losses and potential gains;
·         Manage technical assistance analysts;
·         Promote maximization of production capacity aligned with market needs and conditions.
 
THE PERSON
Technical Skills
·         B.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering from a top university.
·         Graduate diploma such as M.Sc and/or PhD in Extractive Metallurgy or Agglomeration Process will be advantageous.
·         8+ years of professional experience in iron ore mining, agglomeration and/or reduction areas. International experience will be a plus.
·         Fluency in Japanese and English is mandatory.
·         Provide in-loco technical assistance to company’s iron ore and pellets customers in Japan, South Korea and Asia, excluding China.
·         Preferably knowledge of company’s operations, processes and products.
People Skills
·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
·         High emphasis on adaptability, focus on results, teamwork and keenness to work independently in matrix and virtual organizations;
·         Managing 1 subordinate – Technical Assistance Analyst
