Job Title                        Capital Construction Manager – Process Plant Upgrade Project
Position Reports to        Project Manager
Location                        Ukraine
 
Primary Purpose
The Company has commenced a program for execution of approximately $2.5b of capital investment of their iron ore mining and processing assets within the Ukraine.  Working as part of the owners team the successful candidate will lead the site based project team for upgrade of the existing concentrating, filtering and pelletizing process plant facilitites.  The capital value of these works is approximately $400m.
 
The owners team will manage the works carried out by the EPCM contractor and delivery of the project in terms of:
  • Safety;
  • Scope;
  • Capital cost;
  • Schedule;
  • Quality.
 
Duties & Functions
  • Provide strategic input into the project execution plan for all aspects of design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Manage reviews and approvals of FEED and detailed engineering deliverables for conformance with scope, satisfying operational requirements and economic constructability.
  • Manage review and approvals for engagement of all fabricators, contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Manage interface of construction work with the existing operations in a brownfields construction environment.
  • Verify project progress and approval for EPCM and contractor payments.
  • Approve hand-over of completed works from the EPCM contractor.
  • Identify opportunities and manage risk for local design institutes, contractor and community engagement
  • Development and management of the owner's team capability to deliver the above duties with the maximum use of Ukrainian resources.
  • Provide management reporting for project progress.
 
Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering with minimum of ten (10) years of multi-discipline project management or construction management experience.
  • EPCM contract experience.
  • Mining and minerals sector experience.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage own performance and to lead, motivate and develop others in a challenging work environment.
  • Highly developed written and oral skills and demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with other professionals, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to apply Health, Safety, Environmental and Social (HSEC) principles.
  • Previous experience of working in FSU countries highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Russian language is highly desirable.
