Currently, Barrick has an opening for a Production Superintendent in the Dominican Republic.
Position Overview:
Oversees production while ensuring employee morale, safe production and efficient utilization of the mining fleet according to the mining plan with focus to the monthly plan.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Aim for Zero LTI and Zero environmental incidents in the department
- Provide the Safe Working Procedures to the subordinates and ensure they are followed for all routine tasks
- Job safety assessment or Hazard identification & Risk assessment guidelines are provided, done and documented for all tasks that are none routine
- Promote adherence to the HSE standards and procedures at all times.
- Supply personnel with safe working equipment and environment.
- Arrange for clearing permits.
- Make provision for good House keeping at the shift change, pits and all work areas.
- Hold pre-shift meetings where all the important information is clearly communicated to all the team members.
- Resolve personnel matters or forward them to HR or the HOD for further treatment.
- Ensure planned equipment is deployed in the right pits at the correct location.
- Ensure equipment matching and dispatching is optimal.
- Monitor shift start up (First Load) and shift finish for punctuality.
- Ensure production delays for blasting, snack, etc. are within set times.
- Ensure minimization of equipment damage.
- Ensure optimal material usage (tapes, paints, survey pegs, fuel & lubes, stationery).
- Ensure that tires are run on surfaces that minimize the wear and cut.
- Ensure distribution of the monthly planning to the supervisors; make sure they understand them.
- Ensure the distribution of the weekly plans to the Shift and Senior Supervisors. Ensure their correct execution.
- Make sure day-works and projects are completed on time and on budget.
- Monitor career progression of the subordinates in line with the Succession and Localization plans.

Qualifications
- Mining Engineering, Civil or Geology degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years in multiple open pit operation including equipment operation and supervision.
- At least 2 year experience in Shovel and Large Fleet Operation.
- Must hold strong communication and coaching abilities
- Able to effectively read and interpret mining plans and drawings.
- Must understand and be able to direct a large mining fleet.
- English required, bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
