POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • Reporting to the Global Director Human Resources, the incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of all HR policies, programs, processes and procedures to the business and projects in North America.  The portfolio of responsibility includes but is not limited to, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, job classification and evaluation, training and development, staffing and recruitment, employment equity, contract administration, health and safety, workforce realignment and re-deployment, organizational development etc.  The incumbent acts as a resource to senior leadership and develops North American-wide HR policies and programs, aligning with strategic business objectives. 
  • The position will require a moderate level of travel across North America and the incumbent will be expected to operate with a sense of urgency.  This is a proactive, hands-on role, requiring adaptability,  strong communication and a positive response to change.
  • The incumbent is responsible for directing HR Managers at various locations and is accountable for the professional development of the HR team providing opportunities to quickly become familiar with the language, concepts and economic realities of their internal clients.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for the quality of the delivery of HR policies, programs, processes and procedures and will constantly be reviewing the methods of delivery to ensure that they are best in class, affordable and appropriate to the needs of the business and projects.
  • The incumbent will work cooperatively with peers in other geographic locations within the Hatch organization to ensure consistency of practice and follow through on decisions throughout the global organization.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • The incumbent knows the competition and the business environment in which Hatch operates and is aware of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.  The HR Director for North America is solutions oriented and focused on customers.
  • The incumbent relates well to all kinds of people, at all levels within and outside of Hatch. He/she builds appropriate rapport and constructive and effective relationships using diplomacy and tact.  The incumbent can diffuse high-tension situations comfortably.
  • The HR Director for North America is future oriented and can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.  He/she has broad knowledge and perspective and can articulately paint credible pictures and visions or possibilities and likelihoods.  The incumbent can see ahead clearly from an HR perspective in order to compliment the vision of Hatch leadership. He/she must have vision for HR and see trends in the marketplace that will impact on HR issues affecting Hatch so that Hatch can be a step ahead of the competition.
  • The HR Director for North America, provides learning opportunities for direct reports and challenging and stretching tasks and assignments.  He/she provides the information people need to know to do their jobs and holds frequent development discussions.  The incumbent provides individuals with timely information so that they can make accurate decisions.
