Senior Buyer

Job Description
This position falls within [Company]’s Procurement department which is responsible for buying (including expediting, inspection and transportation) the materials and equipment required for [Company]’s projects. Purchase Orders are placed with suppliers all over the world.

As a Senior Buyer you will be a member of a project task force, responsible for the procurement of materials and equipment as required for that project. You may serve as Lead Buyer handling the complete procurement of a certain commodity for your project (e.g. mechanical equipment, piping bulk materials, etc). You will be reporting to the Project Procurement Manager and may be requested to supervise and develop one or more Junior Buyers in the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform sourcing which involves interfacing with engineering, project mgmt. and client personnel to develop bidders lists
Prepare and issue specific inquiry documents for large purchase orders in close cooperation with engineering and ensure the timely receipt of bids
Coordinate, chair and document bid explanation and bid conditioning meetings
Lead and perform final negotiations with successful bidders
Coordinate and prepare bid evaluations and award recommendations
Prepare and issue purchase orders for bulk materials and equipment, including engineered equipment and handle the associated administration
Manage awarded purchase orders in respect of changes and claim prevention/handling
Coordinate with Fluor’s Expeditors, and Logistics Coordinators in the resolution of supplier queries
Ensure on-time delivery, generation of status reports, validity/accuracy of receipts, invoices, and supporting documents

Basic Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
A minimum of 10 years of buying experience in EPCM or related industry
Mining experience is an asset, and we will consider Oil & Gas industry experience or similar

Other Job Requirements

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Experience in MATMAN and/or SAP is an asset
