Project Manager - Surface Mining

[Company] is a leading construction, development and services group with an annual turnover in excess of £2.3 billion.  [Company] is the Group’s mining division, undertaking surface mining and minerals projects in the UK and internationally.

An opportunity has now arisen within the mining division for an experienced Project Manager for a surface coal mining operation in Scotland. 

Reporting to the Mining Director, you will have a proven track record of the management of surface coal mining operations. You must display the ability to lead a multi disciplined team and interact effectively at all levels, both internally and with external stakeholders. Possessing a thorough understanding of all relevant legislation, you will be committed to achieving the highest levels of health, safety and environmental management.

Responsibilities will include:

• The implementation of site specific plans and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies for the management of health, safety and environmental matters.
• Effective management and control of resources to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the mine, in accordance with all planning and statutory requirements.
• Preparation, implementation and achievement of mining plans, operating budgets and production forecasts.
• Progress monitoring, analysis and reporting.
• Customer liaison to ensure that successful relationships are developed and maintained, and that contractual commitments are achieved.
• Management of human resources, including industrial relations and training and development of staff.
