Position Outline
There are 4 available co-op student positions within the Mine Reliability department beginning January 2010. The focus of this group is on the support of all mobile equipment, which includes haul trucks, shovels, and auxiliary equipment. If granted an interview, then we will ask you to indicate which specific area interests you from the following positions:
Maintenance Engineering - investigate and document equipment failures to create reports to communicate with the maintenance group and vendors, update and maintain bad actors list, review and approve vendor product updates for MEM execution, monitor test equipment and components, and tracking downtime history using spreadsheets. Predominately field and shop work.
Predictive Maintenance - create and maintain databases using visual basic, interpret data from vehicle onboard monitoring systems to recommend maintenance repairs, condition based monitoring of components for scheduled replacements. Predominately office based with some field and shop experience.
Project Engineering - compile business case reports for justification of capital expenditures, initiate and manage business unit specific projects, investigate safety improvements and equipment/ facility sustainability, perform brake testing of mine equipment as per Alberta OH&S policy. Predominately office based with some field and shop experience.
Qualification Requirements
- Qualified candidates will be senior level students in the Mechanical or Mining Engineering degree program
- Prior industry experience is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Motivated, self starter who can work well independently or within a team environment
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and other MS office applications
