Description:
·         Purpose of the Job to support allocated business units through the provision of an efficient and effective human resource and industrial relations service.
 
Key Outputs:
·         Requests for advice are attended to within stipulated timeframes
·         Advice provided is researched, accurate and in line with current labour legislation and precedents
·         Complex advice to be provided is confirmed by the HR Director
·         Management is assisted with the preparation for disciplinary enquiries and appeals
·         Assistance provided meet legal requirements and are in compliance with the Company’s disciplinary procedure
·         If required, disciplinary enquiries and appeal hearings are chaired ensuring procedural and substantive fairness
·         Minutes produced are professional reflecting proceedings accurately and are issued within stipulated timeframes
·         Applications and opposing affidavits are attended to timeously and are comprehensively prepared, and filed and served with stipulated timeframes.
·         Documentary evidence and witness testimony is prepared timeously, professionally and based on sound research and precedents
·         The Company is advised of the prospects of success and appraised of the consequences of settlements versus litigation and/or strike action
·         Advice is referred to the HR Executive for confirmation
·         Financial criteria for purposes of wage negotiations are identified and preparations are carried out timorously and comprehensively
·         • Operational needs for purposes of operational restructuring are identified and the relevant stakeholders are consulted with
·         Costings reflect an accurate position of payroll and increased/decreased costs and are referred to the HR Director and relevant members of management for verification and ratification
·         Negotiations and/or consultations are handled in the best interest of the Company whilst complying with legal requirements
·         Agreements are drafted professionally reflecting agreements reached accurately
·         Agreements are verified and ratified by the HR Director
·         Minutes produced are professional reflecting proceedings accurately and are issued timorously.
·         Agreements are implemented and monitored
·         Management is assisted timorously in the preparation of contingency plans reflecting the operational needs of the unit
·         Industrial action is dealt with appropriately and within legal parameters ensuring minimum operational disruption
·         Aggrieved party is advised accurately on procedure to be followed
·         Grievance resolution is facilitated timorously and in accordance with Company procedures
·         Minutes produced are professional reflecting proceedings accurately and are issued timorously
·         Assigned policies and procedures are reviewed and/or developed at stipulated times and/or as a result of legislative changes
·         Documents are produced professionally and timorously taking company needs and legal requirements into consideration
·         Training needs are identified accurately
·         Training programmes are scheduled in accordance with operational needs
·         Training is facilitated in accordance with stipulated outcomes employing outcomes based training methodologies
·         Performance management process is driven in accordance with company procedures
·         The implementation of performance improvement and/or development plans is monitored
·         Management is assisted with the identification of succession candidates taking operational needs and employment equity goals into consideration
·         Management is assisted with the compilation of development plans for succession candidates
·         Development plans are approved by the HR Director and National Training Manager
·         Implementation of development initiatives are monitored at stipulated intervals
·         Stipulated statistical information is collected and analysed for trends within stipulated timeframes
·         Appropriate recommendations are made to the HR Director
·         Approved recommendations are implemented timeously
·         Applicants are screened against personnel specification in liaison with the HR Coordinator to determine short list of applicants
·         Recommendations are made as required
·         New appointments meet the requirements of the job specification and preference is given in terms of employment equity goals
·         Performance is monitored and reviewed at stipulated times
·         Training or development needs of direct reports are identified, planned for and implemented
·         Effective communication is practiced
·         Subordinates report harmonious relationships
·         Activities are planned annually and reviewed quarterly
·         Feedback is provided to the HR Executive as stipulated

Qualifications & Experience:
·         Human Resources Diploma
·         At least 5 years experience in a Human Resources
·         Exposure to work in a Mining environment preferable
