Our Client is a major minerals company operating globally. The Mining Business Unit operations cover the first phase of the energy cycle and consist of four main activities: mineral exploration (discovering new ore deposits), mining (extraction of energy minerals), ore processing and site reclamation following mining activities. The company operates a number of mines and mineral process plants in Francophone West Africa.
Our Client has a requirement for a SULFURIC ACID PLANT PROJECT MANAGER
Sulfuric acid is an essential element in the processing of natural uranium. To meet sulfuric acid mining project needs, contact plants are created enabling projects to achieve their production objectives. Your first assignment will be for a construction Project at a 300kt/year-capacity sulfuric acid manufacturing plant based on MECS technology. This Project is located in Kazakhstan.
The position is based in Paris during the study phase and Kazakhstan for the construction phase.
Within the Mines Business Unit, you are the sulfuric acid Plant Project Manager and are tasked with:
- Leading and coordinating all Project phases: studies, purchasing, construction, testing and startup;
- Being involved in project development for the project, and, to this end, acting as the prime contractor contact person.
As a Project Owner, you are responsible for:
- Organizing and structuring the sulfuric acid Plant Project;
- Defining the basic data to execute the project;
- Producing the schedule and the business plan;
- Controlling its smooth running: monitoring and respecting costs and lead-times, complying with basic data, reports and ultimately technical performance;
- Managing the prime contractor and service providers (studies, equipment purchasing, work contracts, construction, on site testing). You guarantee safety, quality and compliance with the regulations in force;
- Ensuring the deployment of a common reference framework for the Project Department, for the risk analyses and resulting action plans, from the start of the project and during its execution, is taken into account in your Project;
- Managing worksite teams during the on site construction phase;
- Managing and improving the budget and margin of your project through research and the implementation of opportunities;
- Preparing and building customer/partner/supplier amendments and claims;
- Ensuring satisfactory implementation of Project reports for the Project Department.
The position is based in Paris France. Very long assignments are to be expected (approx. 8 months) on different project sites: Kazakhstan and West Africa.
Your Profile:
- You hold an engineering masters degree in either Chemical engineering, industrial chemistry or metallurgical engineering;
- You have significant experience in project management, including the construction phase and if possible you have already been a project manager for a sulfuric acid plant Knowledge of MECS technology is a plus;
- You have leadership and management capabilities;
- You have a good command of communication and consultation techniques;
- You are methodical;
- Your English is fluent (it is assumed your French will be to a good standard due to location and Russian language skills will be a distinct advantage too);
- You have experience working in intercultural teams
