We are currently seeking an individual in the role of:

Leader, Pension and Benefits

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this position provides expertise to support the planning, developing, implementing and coordination of policies and programs covering US Pensions and Benefits Management and retiree services and to direct consultants providing services in these areas. The position collaborates with other HR corporate staff (Manager, Pensions and Manager, Compensation and Benefits) to ensure that our pension and benefits programs meet with overall corporate principles.

Responsibilities:

• Directs the administration of various corporate employee benefit programs, such as group insurance, life, medical, dental, vision, accident and disability, retirement and savings plans - monitors the costs of the programs and recommends plan design changes to manage costs; works closely with the vendor providing outsourced benefit services.
• Supports the implementation of proactive health and wellness programs at the sites; manages the suppliers and links with HR staff at US sites to ensure that the proposed programs meet the requirements of the sites.
• Directs the planning, funding, and performance monitoring of the various company funded and government regulated benefit plans through the process by arranging and preparing information for committee meetings of company finance and human resource management, consultants, investment managers, pension administrators, and actuaries.
• Supports the implementation of the pension education program “Advice Access;” manages the suppliers to ensure that the employees are aware and perceives a benefit from the suppliers.
• Conducts research into pension programs and benefit plans and recommends and carries out changes and/or innovations when desirable or necessary to maintain a positive employer-employee relationship, or to be competitive in the market place.
• Provides support to the US mine sites for the recruitment of senior positions as requested by the mines.
• Provides support for other HR corporate initiatives as requested, including providing input on market and other Human Resources trends related to compensation in the United States.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in related area
• 8 - 10 years of solid experience in benefits and pension
• Strong knowledge of governmental policies and regulations surrounding US benefits and pension
• Experience in pension and benefits administration
• Familiarity with conducting general HR functions
• Must be a team player who is politically astute
• High degree of tact, maturity, and confidentiality
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
