Reporting to the Manager of Long Range Planning, the successful candidate will provide quality, timely, and innovative support to the Long Range Planning department.
 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop and maintain the Long Range Plan (LRP) to ensure consistency with Short Range planning parameters
  • Support the Long Range Plan material balance and waste placements requirements
  • Develop cost effective solutions to planning issues and projects to ensure all potential solutions have been evaluated
  • Work closely with various business units including Short Range Planning, Scheduling, Geotechnical Engineering, and Tailings Planning departments
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as Alberta Environment, Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB), and other government agencies
  • Clear understanding of [Company]’s business objectives and how the Long Range plan affects other business units within [Company]’s base plant operations
  • Participate in [Company]’s long term growth projects and coordinate long range planning support for project applications
  • Provide technical mentorship and peer reviews to junior staff members
 
Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelors of engineering degree in Mining preferred however, candidates with degrees in Civil or Geological Engineering will also be considered
  • Minimum five (5) years Mine Planning experience
  • Broad range experience in the mining industry including a multidisciplinary background in mining, geological, and civil engineering
  • Broad understanding of Oil Sands Major Projects operations would be desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience with mine planning software and/or project management experience is considered a strong asset but not essential

  • Effective leadership skills; demonstrated ability to make important decisions
