Description:
·         The School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences is an academic and industrially-linked school that has undergone a major expansion of its activities.
·         In the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) 95% of research from the School has been classified as being of international quality.
·         [Employer] has been training mining engineers since 1888 and today offers a unique combination of expertise in geology, mining, minerals engineering and renewable energy.
·         Following its incorporation into the University of Exeter in 1993 and its more recent relocation to a new, state-of-the-art campus near Falmouth, Cornwall, the Camborne School of Mines has continued to build on its international reputation for the quality of its research and teaching.
 
Requirements:
·         You will have strong research interests in aspects of geotechnical engineering/engineering geology related to the civil engineering, contaminated land or extractive industries and will be able to make a significant contribution to the multi-disciplinary research within the Department and School.
·         Current research includes remote scanning of rock masses, numerical modelling of rock mass behaviour, coastal and other slope risk assessment, material characterisation and practical implementation of responsible mining.
·         Research in new or related areas will be encouraged.
·         We would expect you to have a teaching load commensurate with the maintenance of your research programme.
You should have a relevant higher degree and be committed to pursuing high quality research alongside teaching across a range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
