Qualifications
· Applicants should be in possession of at least a B Tech (Metallurgical or Mechanical) or
· National Diploma (Mechanical) with a S.A.I.W. welding and NDT (non destructive) certification
Additional Requirements
· 5 years relevant experience
· Experience as a foreman or head will serve as recommendation
· An S.A.I.W welding technologist certification will be an advantage

The incumbent will be responsible for:
· Perform consulting work.
· Apply international welding codes for the qualifying of welding procedures and training of welders
· Testing and calibrating of welding equipment and quality control of work done.
· Perform failure investigations and welding repairs of structures and components.
· Plan and perform advanced heat treatments and assist people on non-destructive testing procedures.
· Develop a program for monitoring wear materials for optimum performance.
· Do material recommendations in terms of physical, chemical and mechanical properties.
· Identification and implementation of improvement projects to improve welding and material standards.
· Liaison with other heads, foreman, tradesman and suppliers for problem solving and to improve communication
· Management of SHEQ (SHEQ documentation, ISO 14000 and ISO 9002), BBC program and STEP and Omega projects
