Principal Underground Mining Engineer

Job Description
Our client is a leading EPCM company specializing in the oil & gas, power generation and mining projects. Currently in urgent need for a mining engineer, the ideal candidate would have the following skills:
 
Summary:
Acts as Mining Engineer or Study Engineer on projects as well as provide mine design and costing functions during studies
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and support to mining engineers and geologists
  • Provide specialist technical input to project work
  • Provide reserves estimation functions
  • Project management or mining lead on major studies
  • Develop industry practices and new technologies
  • Peer reviews
 
Business Development Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Engineering degree in relevant discipline, and registered, or eligible for registration, with a recognized professional association.
  • Knowledge of the JORC code or NI 43-101 and ability to sign off on mineral reserves as a qualified person.
  • 10+ years of mining industry experience in operations and within the engineering consulting industry.
  • Fluency in a second language considered an asset.
  • Experience in an operations environment, at the Mine Engineer or Superintendent level.
  • Familiar with mine planning software such as Minesight, Gemcom, Surpac, Datamine, PCBC, Whittle or Mine 24D.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time.
