[Employer] is a fully integrated nickel business comprising mines, concentrators, a smelter and refinery, all located in Western Australia. [Employer] is the world’s third largest producer of nickel-in-concentrate.
 
[Mine] is expected to commence operation in 2011, with an estimated total investment of US$ 152 million. The [Mine] will enable the [Mine] Concentrator to obtain full value from processing talc-bearing ore types. The project will support the production and cost improvements at Mt Keith Operation.
 
Working as part of a team based [Location] initialising the[Mine] , this position offers the chance to set up systems and provide risk management initiatives to ensure our Zero Harm Policy is maintained. Whilst this role is initially [Location] based during the project leadup it will change to a site based roll during the project execution period (approximately 18 months).
 
This is a key role within the Talc Redesign Project team covering the infrastructure construction aspect. This role with take stewardship of the project risk registers and obligations registers to ensure that all identified risks are managed effectively and committed actions are completed. Initially the focus will be on the development of safety systems, safety management plans and risk mitigation strategies in preparation for commencing the infrastructure construction phase of the project.
 
We are seeking a suitably qualified candidate who has extensive experience in Environment, Health and Safety management preferably in a related extractive or manufacturing industry within a project environment. Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Heath and Safety, mining engineering or associated engineering disciplines or equivalent relevant senior experience is required. Candidates are required to have working knowledge of Australian OHS and Environmental legislation and regulations. The suitable candidate will have highly developed and demonstrated systems focus, people management skills, strategic planning ability and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
